Multiculturalism is no doubt one of the most important aspects a society has for its well-being. Since humanity has grown into a large mixture of different races and cultures, its imperative to be all inclusive when speaking and interacting with different cultures, either in social or professional environments. Differing cultures than the one you associate with may have other strengths and weaknesses that your culture may not possess, and those differences are what make them a benefit to society as a whole; since they have different aspects to bring to the table, then say your own culture might. One of the primary places you will see a large volume of different cultures would be in the workplace. Daily, I interact with dozens, if not†¦show more content†¦Because of this, his entire family leaned Protestant, and participated in church processions often, these shaped the early beginning values that he began to understand and align with. Unfortunately, as time goes on, many fam ilies lose the ability or capacity to attend church, and it’s something he wishes he could participate more in. His family is quite large; however, and would make the effort to have a family dinner early on Sunday afternoons, and would also have church dinners as well. Although living in the inner city for a long time; In 2010, he moved from Chicago to Richmond, Virginia, due to his father getting a higher paying job. His family placed a large importance on the closeness of family, and although most of his family still resides in Chicago, he doesn’t see the need to go back to visit. Eric believes that family doesn’t need to be so close, and life can, and often does, get in the way of things. While experiencing some degree of racism and bigotry even in Chicago, it was amplified when they moved to Virginia. The neighborhood they had moved into was a very white-centric suburban area, consisting of mainly white neighbors, and only a few African American families to associate with.
